For many, summer is the time for vacations. It may be a time to get your entire family together or a group together and have some fun. As much fun as vacations can be, they can also be stressful to plan. When you’re planning a vacation for your entire family or a group there are some things you should take into consideration to ensure everyone has a good time.

  • Money. Your heart might be set on Fiji, but not everyone can afford that extravagant of trip if it wasn’t planned ahead. Talk to people in your travel group or family about their travel budgets.
  • Destination. This can relate to budget as well. Do you want to be by a beach, lake or mountains? Do you want to be active? Do you want a learning experience? Do you want to leave the country?
  • Kids. You may love your grandkids, but maybe you want to have an adult only vacation. Or if you want to include kids in the vacation, the destination should be suitable for all ages.
  • Able-bodiedness. People may have physical limitations that you should consider. Disney World is wonderful, but it requires a ton of walking. Can everyone in your travel group fulfill certain physical requirements? If not are there other activities to participate in or is a destination handicap accessible?
  • Consider travel insurance. You have your entire vacation planned and everything is bought. Nothing is stopping you from going on this vacation. Unfortunately, things can stop you from going on vacation. People get sick and unexpected things happen. Make sure you purchase travel insurance. Also, if you leave the country, it is advisable to purchase travel health insurance. It is not likely something bad will happen, however it is always good to be prepared.
  • Medications. Before you leave make sure all your prescriptions are filled. If there are other necessities, such as an oxygen tank, wheelchair, etc., make sure it is all taken care of.
  • Consider something that is all-inclusive. Cruises and all-inclusive resorts can be great places for families or a group of travelers. Many times there are activities for all ages and able-bodiedness.

Most of all have fun on your vacation! It is great to see new places or even revisit old ones.

Summer Fun!
